Hola,
Today, we went to the pool and elaborated on the idea of possibly staring a smoothie business there. Yes!!! I had a lot of homework still to do from last week and the internet hasn't been working very well! So, I just read more of Treasure Island. This evening we went to the Camel Club...it was a slow night not much going on so we left and instead we walked down to the commissary for ice creams. Our Bangladeshi yard boy, Moolah told us that the cat who hangs around the commissary had 3 kittens this morning so we investigated...but we didn't find a cat or any kittens.I think the commissary gave them to a family who lives in the apartments. The Bangladeshi yard boys are paid by the compound to do all the general up keeping of the compound. Most of them also have a family they work for part-time doing gardening and/or housework. Moolah tells us about his life back in Bangladesh sometimes. It is really interesting and sad. Moolah's wife is pregnant with their first child and recently they found out it was going to be a boy! Sometimes he tells us stories that lead us to believe that the workers here are not treated as they should be. In their contract with the compound it says that they are suppose to get fed every meal. However, according to Moolah the man who runs the compound feeds them tea and bread for breakfast and a bowl of plain rice for lunch and dinner. We had been getting rice and chicken from a little shop right outside the compound; they would always give us an excess of rice! A lot more than we could eat and so we were giving Moolah our extra rice. Looking back he was probably thinking "WOW, thanks for the rice! What a nice break from...rice!"

Keenan! I love to read your blogs! Tell me about your smoothie business...will it be like a lemonade stand, or a non-alcholic rival to the Camel Club? Good luck. Hang in there with Treasure Island...we all had to read it! What else have you been reading?
ReplyDeleteOur new roof is being competed as I write. Assuming good weather, they should be finished in a couple days. We are also having solar panels installed on the roof to generate our own electricity! How green is that!!!
Miss you and look forward to your postings each day!
Love,
Gramma
Keenan - I look forward to reading your blog every day. It is very well written, interesting and entertaining. It's nice of you to share your rice with Moolah. I'm sure he appreciates it even though it's 'more of the same.'
ReplyDeleteKittens, kittens and more kittens - seems like there are a lot of them over there. Have your Mom's symptoms gone away completely. Yeah, I can imagine how frustrating your internet is for you guys - trying to do research homework, etc. I wish we could talk with you and have a 'normal' phone conversation - makes us appreciate how reliable things like the internet are in this country - we oftentimes just take it for granted.
What kinds of things go on at the Camel Club - are there camels to dance with ;-) Is there food and drink? Any games, board games, video games, TV's etc. When is Moolah's baby boy due? Is he going back to Bangladesh for the birth? How long will he stay at home?
Our weather's been pretty cool lately - even had snow yesterday. Hopefully it warms up a heap since May is here tomorrow. We're going to Mexico (Nuevo Vallarta) with Mr. & Mrs. Mood the week after next. It should be quite a bit warmer down there.
Well, keep up the blogging - it's a highlight of my day. I love and miss you.
The Big Boppa
